These are the Top Dog Names of 2016

For many people, dogs aren’t just pets – they’re members of the family. Because of this, pup parents today put great care into finding the perfect name for their furbaby, and it shows.

As 2016 comes to a close, My Dog’s Name, an interactive resource for finding the right dog name for your pup, took a look back at which names were popular this year and found some pretty interesting trends.

The results, captured in this infographic, are based on the selections of the 3.2 million people who used the site this year.


Top 10 Female Dog Names

To be honest, not a lot has changed for the top female dog names. Bella has been in the number one spots since the site started in 2013.

Will it remain a top pick in 2017? It certainly doesn’t seem to be waning in popularity, that’s for sure.

Daisy, Luna, Zoey and Abby/Abigail have also been top selections for the past few years.

Even so, modern favorites like Buddy, Max, Duke and Bear stayed strong and remained in the top 10.

More than ever, people consider dogs a member of the family, which could explain why many of the top cute dog names are also on the list of popular baby names in 2016. (Well, excluding Oreo.)
